New cargo chief aims to boost airport’s potential

With the development of cargo and logistics services forming an important element of the Master Plan being developed for Durham Tees Valley Airport, its management team has been strengthened with the appointment of Dayle Hauxwell as the new Cargo Manager for Peel Airports.

Dayle, who will be responsible for facilities at both Durham Tees Valley and Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield airports, has over 20 years’ experience in the cargo industry and says he is looking forward to playing a part in taking forward the aim of the Master Plan to exploit the full potential of the airport and the overall site.

He explains:

In an area such as the Tees Valley, one of the most important manufacturing centres in the UK, logistics services are vital to its future and the airport can play a key role, not simply for air freight but because of its links to both the major road and rail networks as well as Teesport.

The Master Plan provides the potential for a multi-modal road, rail and air interchange, with warehousing and distribution, as well as processing and consolidation businesses.

That’s a very significant opportunity and I am keen to make sure we exploit that potential in order to help secure and sustain the long-term future of the Airport.

Adds Airport Managing Director Steve Gill:

Dayle is a very welcome addition to our team and he joins at a very significant time for Durham Tees Valley, with the final master Plan for 2020 and beyond due to be published shortly.

I’m sure his wealth of experience in cargo management will help to ensure that the objectives set out in the Master Plan will be delivered.
